A must if you are a lake fisherman. Lets you fish even if foggy or low light conditions. You can navigate to any part of the lake easily and safely.

I purchased Magellan Mapsend Lakes GPS card from Amazon and immediately found that the documentation that Thales supplies is next to worthless. After doing a firmware update (required) I still could not get the program to function. Called Thales CS and, after an hour with their tech, came to the conclusion that the SD card with the database for the program was NG.

Amazon had a replacement shipped out to me overnight. Amazing. The new card worked immediately, but I found that my Meridian Color’s screen was really too small to use onboard my boat. Just couldn’t see the data as any light just washes out the screen. Although the chart detail is vauable for seeing where you are (and have been) it will never replace a large screen charting gps. With battery life abysmal, a long trip requires an external power source.

I use the Mapsend Topo and Lakes alternately between my ATV and boat around Lake George, NY. I had to chuckle as Thales has renamed the place Lake Georege. Worth the money? I guess so. Just keep in mind that you CANNOT display any data on your computer as you can with the Topo database. It is the tiny Meridian screen or nothing.
